Beaches from Fethiye by Dolmuş: Çalış, Ölüdeniz and Kıdrak Lines

Updated:

If you are staying in Fethiye town centre, you do not need a hire car to reach the beach: Çalış, Ölüdeniz and Kıdrak are all served by dolmuş lines that leave from the centre. These minibuses and midibuses, known locally as "dolmuş", now run as numbered lines within the system of MUTTAŞ, the transport company of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality. The line numbers and stop names below were taken from MUTTAŞ's official timetable pages in October 2026. Lines, stops and times can change, so always check before you set off.

How do Fethiye dolmuş lines work?

  • Each line has a number and a name (for example 3-40 Fethiye – Ölüdeniz). Check the line name before you get on; if in doubt, ask the driver.
  • According to the note on MUTTAŞ's line pages, you can pay by credit card on board. MUTTAŞ also has the Muğla Kart travel card; details are on the official website.
  • Each line's page lists departure times, the stops it serves and the fare table. Times are given separately for weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
  • MUTTAŞ states that these are planned times and may change because of weather, traffic or breakdowns. The "Otobüsüm Nerede" (Where is my bus) feature on the site shows live positions, though the operator notes that this data is not guaranteed to be exact.

For current timetables and fares, check MUTTAŞ's official timetable website.

Dolmuş to Çalış Beach

Çalış is a beach and residential area north of Fethiye town centre, known for its long seafront promenade. Of the three beaches in this guide, it is the closest to the centre. Two lines run from the centre to Çalış:

  • 3-23 Fethiye – Sahilden Çalış: departs from the "Merkez" (Centre) stop and reaches the final stops on the Çalış seafront via Salı Pazarı, Eski SSK, Meteoroloji and the Çalış junction.
  • 3-24 Fethiye – Günlükbaşı – Çalış: also departs from the "Merkez" stop and reaches the Çalış seafront by a loop via Adnan Menderes Boulevard and Günlükbaşı.

On the way back, both lines return to the centre via the Pazaryeri and Atatürk Okulu stops. For a quick swim or an evening walk, Çalış is the easiest option for anyone staying in the centre.

Dolmuş to Ölüdeniz

The main line to Ölüdeniz is 3-40 Fethiye – Ölüdeniz. It departs from Fethiye Mahalle Garajı (the neighbourhood minibus garage), passes the Pazaryeri, Atatürk Okulu and Yeni Camii stops in the centre, then continues via Ovacık and Hisarönü down to Ölüdeniz. At the Ölüdeniz end there are stops called "Ölüdeniz Tabiat Parkı", "Kumburnu" and "Ölüdeniz Merkez". The same line is also useful for getting to Ovacık and Hisarönü.

The Ölüdeniz lagoon and its surroundings lie within the Ölüdeniz–Kıdrak Nature Park, declared in 1983; it is the first entry on the official list of nature parks kept by Turkey's Nature Conservation and National Parks authority. For entry conditions and fees for the nature park areas, check the information at the entrance or the official sources.

According to the official Blue Flag list published by TÜRÇEV, Belceğiz Public Beach and Kumburnu Public Beach in Ölüdeniz received the Blue Flag award for 2026.

MUTTAŞ also lists a separate line from Ölüdeniz up to Babadağ (3-46 Ölüdeniz – Babadağ).

Dolmuş to Kıdrak

Kıdrak is a bay beyond Ölüdeniz, within the Ölüdeniz–Kıdrak Nature Park. The line that serves it is 3-42 Fethiye – Faralya – Kabak. It also departs from Fethiye Mahalle Garajı and uses the same stops in the centre as the Ölüdeniz line (Pazaryeri, Atatürk Okulu, Yeni Camii). After Ovacık, Hisarönü and Ölüdeniz Merkez it stops at "Kıdrak Tabiat Parkı" and then continues towards Faralya and Kabak.

According to the October 2026 timetable, this line has noticeably fewer departures than the Ölüdeniz line. If you are heading to Kıdrak, note the time of your return bus before you leave.

Practical tips for a beach day

  • Check both outbound and return times before you go; on the Kıdrak line in particular, make sure you do not miss the last bus back.
  • Save the stop names on your phone; on the way back you can get off at "Merkez", "Pazaryeri" or "Yeni Camii".
  • If you like to take your own food and drinks, the fully equipped kitchen in the Yes Apart apartments makes preparing them easy.
