Winter in Fethiye: Long Stays by the Day or Month
Updated:
In winter, Fethiye shows a quieter side after the summer crowds. If you want to escape south for a few weeks, spend the winter in a mild coastal town or live by the sea for a while as a remote worker, a daily or monthly stay in Fethiye town centre makes sense. This guide covers winter weather and town life, places that stay open, what to check before a long stay, and things to do in winter.
What is Fethiye like in winter?
Fethiye has a Mediterranean climate: winters are mild and rainy, and most of the year's rain falls in the winter months. According to Fethiye Municipality's climate action plan, December is the wettest month in the district. In the coastal town centre winter is generally mild, but there are rainy days, wind and cool evenings. We do not give figures here for winter temperatures, because we could not find a separate table for Fethiye in MGM's official long-term statistics. During your stay, follow MGM's district forecast page for Fethiye. For a season-by-season overview, see our guide on when to visit Fethiye.
Fethiye town centre is not a resort that opens and closes with the summer; it is a district centre where people live all year round. Everyday shopping, weekly markets and town life carry on in winter. On the other hand, seasonal services such as beach businesses, boat trips and some nightlife venues may have a different winter schedule, so ask in advance if your plans depend on them.
Hotels and apartments open in winter in Fethiye
Fewer places may stay open in winter than in summer, so before booking it is important to confirm that your accommodation is actually open on your dates. Yes Apart Hotel Fethiye, in the owners' own words, is open all year. It is in the Tuzla neighbourhood of Fethiye town centre and has two apartments for two people (Yes1, Yes2) and three apartments for five people (Yes3, Yes4, Yes5). See our apartments and find us on our location and getting here page.
Long stays: daily or monthly?
On a long stay, the kitchen makes the biggest difference. An apartment where you can cook means you do not have to eat out for weeks; you can cook the vegetables and fish you buy at the market. For details on the markets, see our guide to Fethiye's Tuesday market and fish market. The Yes Apart apartments have fully equipped kitchens and free Wi-Fi; if you plan to work remotely, we recommend discussing your connection needs in advance.
Prices are shown on the site per apartment per night in a day-by-day price calendar. On the booking page, select your arrival and departure dates to see the night-by-night total. No fixed monthly rate or long-stay discount is published; for stays of several weeks or months, message us on WhatsApp and ask for a personalised offer. To confirm a booking, the deposit is one night's price regardless of the length of stay and is paid by bank transfer; online card payment is not available for now.
Things we suggest asking on WhatsApp before a long stay:
- How the apartment is heated in the winter months.
- How often cleaning and towel and linen changes are done on a long stay.
- Whether laundry facilities are available.
- The total offer and payment plan for your dates.
Things to do in Fethiye in winter
- Hiking: the Lycian Way starts at Hisarönü (Ovacık) near Fethiye. October–November and spring are known as good hiking periods; in winter, expect rain and snow at higher elevations. On rainy days, choose short, low-lying sections.
- Ancient sites: sites such as Tlos and Kayaköy can also be visited in winter, but winter visiting hours differ from summer. Check current hours in the announcements of Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
- Saklıkent: because the water level rises in winter, the deeper parts of the gorge are usually accessible only in the summer months. Check the current situation before a winter visit.
Visas and residence for foreign guests
Foreign guests planning a long stay in Turkey need to check the rules on visas, length of stay and residence permits for their own situation. We cannot give legal advice on these matters. Get current, binding information from Turkey's Presidency of Migration Management (Göç İdaresi) and the official e-İkamet system.
