Fethiye with Kids: Planning a Family Holiday in a 5-Person Apartment

Updated:

When you plan a holiday in Fethiye with children, two questions come first: where will we stay, and how will we fill the days? This guide brings together the conveniences of staying in a 5-person apartment, day plans that work with kids and what to keep in mind during the hot months. We have left out changeable details such as prices, opening hours and distances; please check the current situation before you go.

Why an apartment for a family?

For a larger family, the biggest advantage of an apartment is the kitchen. The apartments at Yes Apart Hotel Fethiye have a fully equipped kitchen, which means:

  • You can prepare breakfast and your children's meals on your own schedule.
  • You decide the menu for children with special dietary needs or picky eaters.
  • Packing snacks and water for beach and sightseeing days is easier.
  • You do not have to eat out for every meal, which makes the budget easier to manage.

The 5-person apartments suited to families are Yes3, Yes4 and Yes5. The photos on each apartment page give you a general impression. We recommend asking on WhatsApp about details such as the bed layout, number of rooms, a baby cot or a high chair before you book; choosing the right apartment together, based on your children's ages, works best.

Why staying in the centre helps families

Staying in Fethiye town centre means being close to what you need during the day: shops, the market, restaurants and evening walks. When the children are tired or it gets too hot, it is also easy to go back to the apartment for a rest. For the weekly market and fresh fish, see our guide to the Fethiye Tuesday market and fish market; together with a self-catering kitchen, it is one of the most useful guides.

You can find where the centre is and how to get there on the location page.

Planning the day with children: general tips

Summers in Fethiye are hot. Building the day around the heat makes things easier for the children and for you:

  • Plan the sea and sightseeing for early morning and late afternoon; spend the hottest hours of midday in the shade or resting in the apartment.
  • Bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and plenty of water, and make sure children drink often.
  • Always keep an eye on children on the beach; check sea conditions and warning flags.
  • Some beaches have pebbly or stony ground; water shoes can make things easier for little ones.
  • Do not stack long tours back to back; follow a sightseeing day with a rest or beach day.

Places to go as a family

Ölüdeniz

The Ölüdeniz lagoon lies within Ölüdeniz Nature Park, Turkey's first nature park. The beach is mostly pebbly. Our guide to beaches from Fethiye by dolmuş explains how to get to the beaches from the centre.

Saklıkent Gorge

This national park in Seydikemer district of Muğla offers a cool break in summer with its cold, fast-flowing water. According to the park's advice, watch out for slippery surfaces, wear suitable shoes, do not enter the gorge when the water level is high, and keep children under parental supervision at all times. Remember a change of clothes and a towel.

Kayaköy

An open-air history lesson with stone houses and churches. The hillside paths are stony, so a pushchair may be difficult with small children; comfortable shoes and water are enough. For details on the Kayaköy, Saklıkent and Tlos routes, see our guide to day trips from Fethiye.

Boat trip

For families who want to see the bays from the sea, boat trips are another option. Before booking, ask the operator whether child-size life jackets are available, and about shaded areas and lunch. See our guide to the 12 Islands boat trip for details.

In town

An evening walk in the centre when it is cooler, and historic places in town such as the rock-cut Tomb of Amyntas and the ancient theatre, make a short and easy programme with children.

Budget and booking

Prices on the website are shown per apartment per night, not per person; when you select your dates you see the night-by-night total. To book, you can message us on WhatsApp, fill in the booking form or ask the management for a personalised offer. The deposit is one night's rate regardless of the length of stay and is paid by bank transfer. To see all apartments together, visit the apartments page.
